DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO.

Updated: Apr 10, 2021

You don't do what you preaching.

//

EXCUSE ME? - I'm doing me, I'm not your role model.

Make your own decisions.

What is the first thing that comes into mind when you hear this?

DO AS I SAI NOT AS I DO.

People will call you a hypocrite for telling them what to do, for advising them and you not doing exactly the same.

However, people forget that you may not be following your own advice because of personal struggles and circumstances.

Do what I advise you to do, don't do what you see me doing.

"I'm doing me, I'm not your role model. Make your own decisions."

These are the type of people who are not aware of their role as social influencer, as contributing members of society.

When you don't know the type of position you hold as an individual in society, you become a self-centred person.

This results in you thinking only about yourself and not worry about how you do things that can either positively or negatively impact lives.

Human beings are really visual creatures, we learn more by what we see rather than what we hear. (Well it varies from people to people), but that is the case for most people.

One of my blogs talks about our lifestyle as being our nonverbal communication, which people analyse and look like a reference to learn more about us.

That's when self-awareness, knowing yourself comes into the picture. You need to acknowledge your lifestyle, your role as contributing individual and claim authority over your life. Learn to decide for yourself.

THINK FOR YOURSELF

Even when you receive good advice or see a great attitude, you should not just follow it or do as for them just because it turned well for them.

However, you should assess and understand why is it good? why that is inspiring ? and will that benefit me in any way?

Just because its good does not mean it is good for you.

Even the greatest advice can turn into the worst, when not properly analysed.

Listening is crucial but it becomes effective when we can assess it, this will help us see and hear beyond what we are allowed to.

The importance of small details.

So before you point a finger to someone for your own mistakes, stop and ask yourself if you thought things through before making a decision.

If you haven't learned nothing from this blog, then take only this :

  1. Don't be a copy cat.

  2. See, listen and learn but when it comes to making your own decisions, don't follow others footsteps, however, use them as guidance to make your decisions according to your circumstances.

  3. Don't blame others for being hypocrite, for not knowing their role as contributing individuals in society or for not wanting to hold any type of responsibilities on how they influence other people.

  4. When taking advice learn to listen, observe and understand how such advice can be beneficial for you and your circumstances.

  5. When it comes to making decisions don't be a copy cat, you'll be settling for failure.

  6. Don't point fingers when the advice you received doesn't work out as planned. You made a choice.

Claim the authority over your life and make your own decisions, the right decisions always.
